Проаналізовано внесок українських учених у розвиток міжнародного статистичного інституту (МСІ, International Statistical Institute, ISI). До них віднесено тих, які народились або навчались, або працювали тривалий час на території сучасної України. Висвітлена їхня участь у конгресах, публікаціях, робота на виборних посадах Міжнародного статистичного інституту та інші виді діяльності. Коротко викладено історію діяльності МСІ за понад століття його існування. Весь період розвитку МСІ поділено на чотири етапи, враховуючи політичні умови, що впливали на участь наших учених у його діяльності: перший – від заснування (1885 р.) до 1917 р. (жовтневий переворот у Росії); другий – від 1917 р. до 1939 р. (початок Другої світової війни, перерва в роботі Міжнародного статистичного інституту до 1947 р.); третій – від 1947 р. (відновлення роботи МСІ) до 1991 р. (отримання Україною незалежності); четвертий – від 1991 р. і до теперішнього часу. Розглянуто роль у діяльності МСІ за виділеними авторами етапами обраних членів інституту з України, серед яких: на першому етапі – Ю. Янсон, І. Стрельбицький, М. Тройницький, І. Кауфман, І. Янжул, А. Рафалович, Д. Тімірязєв; на другому етапі – М. Птуха; на третьому етапі – Б. Гнєденко, Ю. Линник; на четвертому етапі – А. Скороход, В. Королюк, В. Анісімов, Д. Сільвестров, Р. Моторин, В. Сімчера, О. Кукуш, О. Гладун, Ю. Мішура. Охарактеризовано діяльність як обраних, так і регулярних членів Міжнародного статистичного інституту. Доведено важливість досліджень зазначених науковців у розвитку міжнародної статистики. Акцентовано на пріоритетності низки робіт, виконаних українськими вченими. При цьому звернено увагу не лише на наукові здобутки вітчизняних статистиків, а й на їх практичну та педагогічну діяльність. Показано актуальність досліджень, які виконуються українськими вченими у теперішній час.
