Research evaluation policy, open science and AI
The scientific journal "Statistics of Ukraine" supports the principles of responsible evaluation of scientific research, open science, and transparent use of artificial intelligence technologies in scientific publications.
DORA Declaration
The journal supports the principles of the Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA).
Manuscripts are evaluated solely on the basis of their scientific content, novelty, methodological soundness, and relevance to the journal's topic, and not on the basis of journal metrics (in particular, impact factor).
Editorial board:
- does not use journal metrics as the primary evaluation criterion;
- supports responsible and objective evaluation of research;
- promotes transparency of authorship;
- encourages responsible citation practices.
FAIR Principles
The journal supports the FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) principles of scientific data management.
Authors are advised to:
- use constant identifiers (DOI, ORCID);
- ensure open access to research results and, where possible, to primary data;
- use standardized data formats;
- provide correct documentation and license terms for reuse.
If necessary, authors may add a "Data Availability Statement" section.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy
The journal recognizes the possibility of using artificial intelligence tools (including generative models) in manuscript preparation.
Simultaneously:
- Artificial intelligence tools cannot be credited;
- full responsibility for the scientific content, reliability and originality of the material lies with the authors;
- usingAI for data analysis or image processing must be clearly declared in the text of the manuscript (particularly in the “Methods” section);
- usingAI for language editing (grammar, stylistics) is allowed without mandatory declaration, provided that scientific content is not generated or modified;
- in case of useAI to assist in text generation, material synthesis or manuscript structuring must be transparently declared;
- use is strictly prohibitedAI for fabricating or falsifying data, creating fake links, or manipulating images;
- editors and reviewers should not upload confidential manuscripts to openAI systems.
Failure to report significant use of AI may be considered a violation of publication ethics.
