Ways to Develop Preschool Education Statistics in Line with European Union Standards

Abstract

The article discusses the problems of developing statistics on preschool education in Ukraine in accordance with the standards of the European Union in the context of European integration. Ukraine has committed itself to the implementation of European standards in education, which aims to improve the quality, accessibility and transparency of data. This will ensure comparability with EU data, which opens up new opportunities for international cooperation. The European Union standards focus on sustainable development, integration of environmental, social and economic aspects, which allows taking into account the interests of all social groups, providing equal access to education for all children. The article analyses problematic aspects, such as the lack of a unified methodology for collecting statistical data, limited data by quantitative indicators and insufficient integration into the European statistical space. The study also addresses topical issues of data collection automation and the use of information and communication technologies. The study provides a comparative analysis of statistical indicators of preschool education in Ukraine and the European Union, including the indicators ‘Education and training’ and ‘Regional education statistics’ in accordance with the classification of the International Standard Classification of Education 2011. The purpose of the article is to identify ways to develop the system of educational statistics in Ukraine, including the introduction of indicators that meet the standards of the European Union. The authors hope that the results of the study will contribute to the creation of an effective system of data collection and analysis in the field of preschool education, close to European standards.

The study allowed the authors to draw a number of conclusions: Ukraine, having chosen the European vector of development, has committed itself to integrating European standards into the educational sector, including preschool education statistics; the Government of Ukraine is already working to implement the recommendations of the European Union, in particular, it has adopted a decree that provides for the revision of reporting forms to ensure their compliance with European standards; the implementation of European standards allows Ukraine to achieve unification of preschool education statistics, which simplifies comparison with data from other EU countries; European standards.
